BEVERLY HILLS, CA, October 06, (THEWILL) – The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has received a petition filed against an All Progressives’ Congress (APC) chieftain, Barrister Ismaeel Buba Ahmed, bordering on the human rights violation of a mother and her son.
The petition with number C/2013/8496/HR filed by Ms. Anisa Danbatta, a resident of Kano State, claims that Barr. Ismaeel Buba Ahmed, APC Youth Forum Leader, abandoned her with their son in penury and untold hardship.
Hence, Ms Danbatta is therefore seeking the Commission to charge the subject of the petition for human rights violation under the 1999 Constitution and the United Nations Charter on Human Rights. The petition addressed to Executive Secretary, NHRC is titled: “Petition for A Redress of a Breach of the United Nations Charter on Human Rights, the Child Rights Act, 2003 and the 1999 Constitution as Amended, Regarding Citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The petitioner stated : “I, Ms. Anisa Dambatta, a resident of Kano, hereby seek to bring to your notice, a breach of my rights and my young child.
“I, Ms. Danbatta, a single mother of a one year old child, seeks through this petition to your commission a redress of a breach of my human rights under the UNCHR, the CRA, 2003 and chapter 2 of the 1999 constitution as amended by the National Assembly.
” I seek through this petition to inform the Commission about Barr. Ismaeel Buba Ahmed, who is the father of my child, but has since absconded from his duties as a father, leaving me hapless as a single mother of his child without care and the child without the privilege and right under the above statutes and constitution of the country to the care of a father.
“I and my hapless and unprotected child have been under the excruciating yoke of neglect and lack of economic base to take good and decent care of ourselves arising from this neglect by the culprit and father of the child, Mr. Buba Ahmed.
“Mr. Buba Ahmed’s paternity of the said child and knowledge of the mother are not in doubt, but several efforts to make him take responsibility as a father have proved abortive, hence my resort to the Commission.
“I am aware of your strenuous and successful efforts to redress issues bordering on human rights breaches since you are established and we have no doubt that you will do same in this case which has brought untold hardship on a young mother and her unprotected child.
“The right to parental care, your esteemed office must note, is invaluable and constitutes one of the strongest foundations for social engineering, development and cohesion.
“Your important office is aware of the strain of unprotected children to the society and the danger of insecurity these unfortunate children can be to the society, should your office and other institutions charged with the responsibility of addressing this problem give a blind eye to their neglect.
“Besides, I as a mother of this child, if not taken care of by the culprit, may be forced to resort to illicit means of survival, a possibility that may also constitute a security and social hazard to the society.
“We therefore seek your swift intervention in this sad case, with a view to redressing this unfortunate and pathetic situation.”
However, Barr. Buba Ahmed has since denied the allegations, describing it as a “cheap blackmail.”
