SAN FRANCISCO, November 03, (THEWILL) – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said Presidential aspirants can now pick up Presidential nomination forms from the PDP’s national secretariat.

The party has been criticized over its refusal to make presidential nomination forms available to other aspirants, insisting that it printed only one form for President Goodluck Jonathan, who the party adopted as its sole Presidential candidate for the 2015 Presidential election.

In a statement on Monday, Olisa Metuh, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, announced the backtrack saying, “All aspirants who paid for nomination forms, including the Presidential Form but yet to collect same, should come to the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja with verifiable evidence of payment for purposes of collection of their forms.”

Metuh also reaffirmed that the “deadline for the purchase and collection of all nomination forms has been extended to Thursday, 6th November 2014.”

Two presidential aspirants – Dr Abdul Jahil Tafawa-Belewa, the son of deceased former Nigerian Prime Minister, and Akasoba Zainab Abiola, wife of late Chief Moshood Abiola, the winner of the annulled 1993 Presidential election, were both blocked from picking up the Presidential nomination forms by the party after they had paid.
