October 21, (THEWILL) – The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governors met on Wednesday in Abuja, resolving to deliver a free, fair and hitch-free National Convention come October 30.
Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Sokoto State’s Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal noted that their party would deliver the best convention ever in the history of Nigeria’s democracy.
Governors in attendance include: Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa State) and Chairman of the Convention Organising Committee, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto ), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike (Rivers), Oluseyi Makinde (Oyo) and Abdulkadir Bala Mohammed (Bauchi).
Others were: Enugu State’s Governor Ifeanyi Ugwaunyi who chaired the Zoning Committee, Edo State’s Governor Godwin Obaseki and Bayelsa State’s Governor Douye Diri.
Taraba State’s Governor Darius Ishaku had his representative as his Deputy Governor, Haruna Manu.
Addressing Journalists shortly after the meeting at the Akwa Ibom House in Abuja, Tambuwal said the meeting received briefings from the Convention Organising Committee’s Chairman and Adamawa State’s Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
According to the Sokoto State Governor, the convention committee had concluded plans to deliver on a rancour-free October 30th convention.
He also went on to applaud the convention sub-committees for working tirelessly to put together a programme capable of making PDP members and leaders proud.
Governor Tambuwal noted: “We are optimistic that the Party will come out more united after the convention providing the platform where more Nigerians can realise their aspirations.”
