SAN FRANCISCO, December 01, (THEWILL) – The Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) House of Assembly primaries conducted at the weekend in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State ended on a sad note as one of the aides to the Deputy Majority Leader in the State House of Assembly, Hon Johnson Erijo, ran amok, shooting a lady during a booze party shortly after the lawmaker was declared winner unopposed.

Reliable sources told THEWILL that the lawmaker’s aide simply identified as SK Hezekiah went on a shooting spree with a pump action gun immediately the lawmaker was declared winner unopposed and in the process, a sprayed bullet was said to have hit the victim.

Impeccable sources alleged that the aide became uncontrollable with the pump action gun which is said to belong to the lawmaker.

The sources said that they had envisaged trouble in the area following the circumstances that led to the conduct of the primaries in Aviara.

Eyewitness account said that shortly after the primaries, the brother and aide to Erijo, allegedly brought out a pump action gun and started shooting sporadically and in the process, a female constituent was severely shot.

According to the sources, it was later discovered that about eight pump action guns were allegedly stocked in a trunk of one of the vehicles belonging to Erijo who is also the House Committee Chairman on Information.

“It was a terrible situation at Aviara during the primaries…. Actually, what happened was that shortly after the PDP primaries for constituency 11 which was held in Aviara, the home town of the current member representing Isoko South constituency II in the Delta state House of Assembly, Hon. Johnson Erijo, who is also an aspirant, one of his brothers and aide brought out a pump action gun from one of the cars and started shooting sporadically and in the process, shot a girl who is an indigene of Olomoro.

“If in ordinary primaries we have started shooting people what will happen during the main elections in 2015?,” THEWILL was told.
Information available to us said that eight bump action guns were hidden in one of the vehicles alleged to be owned by the third term lawmaker.

The victim, whose name could not be ascertained as at the time of filing in this report, is said to be in a critical condition in an undisclosed hospital were she was taken for treatment.

Giving a graphic detail of the incident, a top PDP executive member of Isoko South Local Government Area who craved anonymity, confirmed the report. He however said what happened was not intentional and was not targeted at anybody.

“Let the truth be told for once, actually the incident happened at the residence of the lawmaker during a jubilation party after the primaries, but it was not intentional.

“I was there live, but what is worrisome to most of us now is that, the way and manners dangerous weapons are being shipped to Isoko South for the 2015 election is alarming. Can you imagine that about eight pump action guns were in a car in the lawmaker’s compound as we were told,” the PDP chieftain said.

Sources said that during the booze party held in the lawmaker home, a man suspected to be a hired mercenary from Igbide community was allegedly caught with a resolver gun and some charms . He was said to have been beaten to a pulp by a boy suspected to be loyal to the lawmaker.

All efforts to reach Erijo proved abortive as he didn’t pick calls to his cellphone. Neither did he reply text messages sent to him.
