SAN FRANCISCO, May 17, (THEWILL) – The Plateau state governor, Simon Lalong, on Wednesday stormed the House of Representatives to witness the defection of a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lawmaker from his state, Edward Pwajock, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The Speaker of the House of Reps, Yakubu Dogara, read out Pwajock’s letter of defection in plenary on Wednesday. However, immediately afterwards, members of the PDP started protesting against the move.
Pwajock, who is a senior advocate of Nigeria and represents Jos east/south federal constituency of Plateau state, cited the crisis in the main opposition party as reason for his defection.
Reacting to the development, Minority Leader of the House, Leo Ogor, faulted Pwajock’s excuse for dumping the PDP.
But addressing reporters after the plenary, the Reps member said his constituents have been clamouring for his defection due to the crisis in the PDP.
