BEVERLY HILLS, February 06, (THEWILL) – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Friday lost no fewer than 26,000 of its members in Yobe State to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Disclosing the defection of the PDP members to the APC at a reception for the new members in Damaturu, the state capital, was the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Adamu Dala Dogo, who is the Chairman of the Contact, Mobilisation and Reconciliation committee of the APC in the state.

He said the defectors cut across seven of 16 local government areas of the state, namely Damaturu, Tarmuwa, Yunusari, Nangere. Gulani, Geidam and Bursari.

According to him, in all the local government areas, all the chairmen and the Local Government executives among several other followers defected from PDP to APC in “the search for a better and purposeful leadership.”

Assuring the defectors of adequate protection in the APC, Dala Dogo said APC will carry them along in its entire programmes ,stressing:

“I am happy you now realised and renounced membership of the PDP by shifting your loyalty to the APC. Let me assure you that you will never regret joining the APC because the party will carry all of you along in its programmes and you will be treated just like any other old members of the party.”

Also speaking at the occasion, the former PDP chairman of Damaturu Local Government, Alhaji Ibrahim Talio, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, disclosed that they left the PDP because of serious injustice they suffered over the years and expressed optimism that APC will surely be better.

He also lauded the giant strides recorded so far by the APC government in the state, expressing the hope that similar transformation will be recorded at the national level when APC takes over at the federal level.
