
January 16, (THEWILL) — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has moved to stabilise its internal structures with the appointment of caretaker committees in Delta, Enugu, Imo, Rivers and Osun states.
A statement signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Theophilus Dakas Shan, stated that the National Working Committee (NWC), acting on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC), approved the appointments in line with Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended).
While the appointments take immediate effect, the committees are mandated to manage party affairs in their respective states for a period not exceeding 90 days or until new state executive committees are elected, in accordance with Section 21(2)(a-b) of the party’s constitution.
In Delta State, the caretaker committee is chaired by Prof. Sylvester Monye, with Dr Michael Tidi, Esq., as secretary. Members include Ujor Ucheonny, Pharm. Victor Ofobrukueta, Comdr. Johnbull Aghogho Kenairu, Jackson Agbor, Onajega Mike, Chief Ekiyor Charles, Hon. Mrs Vero Egbuna, Chukwunonso Alex Ndah and Walter Uguoye.
Enugu State’s committee is headed by Barr. Steve Oruruo, with Martin Ugwuamadieze as secretary. Other members are Ugwu Uchenna Godswill, Lilian C. C. Ugwuoke, Anikezie Michael, Cosmas Chinwe Ugwu, Barr. Basil Aguigwo, Chief Cosmas Onyia and Barr. Peter Ajah.
In Imo State, Chief John Jude Okere will serve as chairman, while Mr Magnus Amadi is secretary. Members include Mr Kenneth Ejiofor, Arc. Chinonso Odoemelam, Mr Celestine Uwah, Mr Maria Osuigwe, Lady Love Orum, Engr. Promise Oneogwe and Mr Hygienus Asoluka.
The Rivers State caretaker committee is chaired by Ogbam Ojimah, with Dr Field Baribeful Nkor as secretary. Other members are Richard Enyia Victor, Grace Boma Harry, Princess Isioma Stella Elenwa, Arc. Eldred Owupele-Orubo, Austin Emeka Wali, Mr Ada Udong and Mr Edward Nubari David.
In Osun State, Hon. Tunde Tijani heads the committee, while Hon. Bamidele Seyi-Abiola serves as secretary. Members include Hon. Lateef Mumini Obide, Alhaji Sarafa Gbadamosi, Hon. Adewoyin Babatunde, Hon. Ajileye Wasiu Aderemi and Hon. Oluresi Michael Adebanji.
The PDP leadership directed all committee members to strictly adhere to the party constitution, the Electoral Act 2022 and the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), while working towards restoring cohesion, strengthening grassroots mobilisation and preparing the ground for the election of substantive party executives.
