BEVERLY HILLS, CA, November 26, (THEWILL) – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Local Government councillorship primary elections in Pajat ward of Langtang North Local Government of Plateau State turned deadly on Tuesday as three persons were felled by the bullets of an officer attached to the Special Task Force (STF) on Jos crisis at the Shishiri venue of the election.
Trouble started when the STF men on guard at the polling centre were trying to rescue one of the electoral officials from being manhandled by some aggrieved youths. The youths were said to have hauled stones at the STF personnel who got angry and shot at the mob, and in the process, killing three persons.
This then sparked off greater anger as the aggrieved youths took to the highway burning tyres and blocking vehicular movement in the area as they protested the killing.
Spokesman of the STF, Captain Salisu Mustapha, could not be reached for confirmation when filing this report as calls made to his phone were not picked.
