March 22, (THEWILL) – The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18th governorship election in Enugu State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has been declared winner of the poll.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had suspended the collation of results for the governorship election in State, to allow it review results from two outstanding local governments areas of Nsukka and Nkanu East.

Declaring the results on Wednesday night, INEC Returning Officer for the Enugu gubernatorial election, Prof. Maduebibisi Iwe, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Umudike, declared Peter Mbah of the PDP, as Enugu Governor-elect.

He said Mbah polled 160, 895 votes to beat his closest rival, Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party (LP), who scored 157,552 votes.

Chief Uche Nnaji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Frank Nweke Jnr of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), polled 14,575 and 17,983 votes respectively.

While total valid votes cast were 358,463, rejected votes stood at 9,088. Total votes cast were 367,551.
