March 22, (THEWILL) – Cristiano Ronaldo has opened up about his troubled second spell at Manchester United, calling it a “bad career run”, but saying he feels like a “better man” for putting it behind him.
The Portuguese superstar made a comeback to Old Trafford in 2021, scoring 24 times in all competitions during a difficult season for the club. However, tensions with new manager, Erik ten Hag, led to an explosive interview on TalkTV and a mutual termination of his contract with United in November.
Since leaving United, Ronaldo has joined Saudi Arabian team, Al-Nassr, where he initially struggled to play due to caps on foreign players in the Saudi Pro League. However, he has since scored nine times in 10 games across all competitions, with two impressive goal hauls.
Ronaldo has said he is happy with his decision to join Al-Nassr, despite criticism that he had originally intended to join a team in the UEFA Champions League. Reflecting on his experiences, Ronaldo said, “I had never been through this, like in the last few months. Now I’m a better man.”
He also acknowledged that “sometimes, you have to go through some things to see who is on your side.”
