SAN FRANCISCO, August 15, (THEWILL) – The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and a former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has resigned from the position citing family and personal reasons.
Obi was appointed to the office in January but his appointment was yet to be formally approved by the National Executive Committee of the party as stipulated in the party’s constitution.
The politician tendered his letter of resignation at the party’s headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, an aide told journalists. Obi however said he would remain in the party which controls only one state in the federation, Anambra, South Eastern Nigeria.
APGA has been hit lately with the defection of key members at the National Assembly to the Peoples Democratic Party.
