BEVERLY HILLS, December 03, (THEWILL) –The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has berated the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over cultism allegation levelled against the APC governorship candidate for the 2015 election, Dr. Dakuku Peterside.
The party said in a statement issued Wednesday by its State Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone, that despite its best efforts and resolve not to join issues with the Rivers PDP, especially on matters that border on mischief and clear lies, APC, however, was constrained to quickly respond to a statement issued on Tuesday by the PDP State Chairman in order to protect innocent Rivers people and residents from bogus lies against APC members just to score cheap political points.
The statement said: “In the fallacious, mendacious and highly noxious press release, the PDP, without recourse to any dint of consideration for minimum human conscience, decency and the all-knowing God, alleged that the governorship aspirant endorsed by our party leadership caucus, Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, was a cultist.”
This is the most barefaced lie, dressed in the cloak of political propaganda, ever to come out from the PDP house of commotion.
“It is the belief of our party, the APC, that the entire Christian community in Rivers State and beyond knows the political party in Rivers State promoting a well-known Ogboni member as a governorship aspirant. Need we repeat that here?”
“It is clear that what the PDP was trying to do in that accusation was a lame and pedestrian attempt at applying the principle of attack being the best form of defence. The APC as a party knows that members of the Christian faith in Rivers State are wiser than that and, at the right time, will separate the wheat from the chaff.”
“We also know that the Christian community and well-meaning members of Rivers society, very well know that Dr. Dakuku Peterside has been an astute, dedicated and consummate Christian all his life. And he always lives his private and public life, guided by the hallowed principles of his faith – Christianity.”
“As the coast is getting clearer on all sides, let the PDP get ready to engage imaginatively and sensibly for once and not resort to indecent below-the-belt tactics, blatant lies and wild accusations against our party and members who are all decent and untainted men and women of character in society.”
