Police Arrest Journalist, Protesters In Lagos

SAN FRANCISCO, September 10, (THEWILL) – Police on Thursday, arrested some protesters and journalists during a peaceful match against the hike in the pump prices of petrol and electricity tariff

The protest, organised by the Socialist Party of Nigeria and Civil society groups, took off from the Nigeria Labour Congress House, Yaba Lagos. They matched peacefully towards sharing leaflets containing their demands until they were arrested by men of the Nigeria Police, Area C, Ojuelegba Lagos.

About 18 protesters including four journalists of GalaxyTv , Sahara Reporters , Punch Newspapers and Premium Times were manhandled, cameras seized and subsequently arrested by the police.

They were taken to the Area C police station before being transferred to Police Headquarters in Ikeja Lagos.
