July 22, (THEWILL) – Popular social media influencer, Amanda Chisom, has been arrested by police operatives in Abuja, over her participation in a N50 billion ponzi scheme.
The ponzi scheme was carried out by Marksman Chinedu Ijeoma, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chinmark Group, who is currently at large.
Thousands of Nigerians who invested in Chinmark Group are currently counting their losses, as the company has failed to repay their invested funds.
It was learnt that a lot of people invested millions of naira in Chinmark Group because the social media influencer became an ambassador for the company, and Ijeoma vanished into thin air after promising mouth-watering return on investment to investors.
The investors, many of whom were said to have committed millions of naira, have been launching a wave of tirade against Ijeoma, and those who helped to promote his company on social media platforms, including social media influencer and brand ambassador for the company, Amanda Chisom, as well as another social media influencer for Chinmark, Harrison Gwamnishu.
Chukwudi Iwuchukwu, a lawyer, who shared a video of her arriving the office of Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja, after she was arrested on Tuesday, July 19, said the social media influencer might be detained for a long time based on court order procured by the victims of the Chinmark’s heist that she was part of.
Iwuchukwu wrote, “Chisom was actually picked up on Tuesday morning, July 19, from her residence by a team of crack detectives, after her arrival from her foreign vacation trip.
“It is possible that she would be detained for a long time based on court order procured by the victims of the Chinmark’s heist that she was part of.
“Chisom has been singing like a canary bird about what she knows about the N50 billion stolen by Chinmark, and herself, from innocent retail investors.
“She would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation by the crack team of detectives currently interrogating her.
“Chisom’s ordeal is a lesson to every young person, including me. There is no short cut to success. Stay away from ponzi scheme operators. Stay away from scam and fraudulent business,” the lawyer added.
