“Recognising the potential for increased criminal activities during the festive period, the Ogun State Police Command has stepped up security measures by enhancing checkpoints and patrols. Officers in uniform and plainclothes will be on the ground to deter crime and reassure the public of their safety,” Odutola stated.

She added that specialised units, including SWAT, Anti-Cultism, and Anti-Kidnapping squads, would conduct regular patrols, particularly around educational institutions, and monitor key locations such as places of worship, parks, government buildings, and banks.

High-risk areas, such as Long Bridge, Rounder, Sapaade, and Ogunmakin, which have witnessed threats in the past, will be closely monitored with armored patrols, Odutola noted.

The command also emphasised its zero-tolerance policy towards criminal activities aimed at disrupting festivities, stressing that all officers had been instructed to uphold professionalism and civility while maintaining security.

“The Police Commissioner, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, will oversee operations and coordinate with Area Commanders to ensure the success of the security measures. A total of 7,777 officers have been deployed across the state, while the Operations Department remains fully equipped to respond to any threats,” she said.

Odutola urged residents to cooperate with security personnel and adhere to safety protocols to ensure a peaceful celebration. She also reminded drivers to navigate roads cautiously and exercise patience at checkpoints set up for public safety.

For any security concerns, residents were advised to contact the Command’s control room via 09062837609, 09120141706, 09159578888, or through the Command’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, @OgunPoliceNG.

The Police PRO concluded by extending the Commissioner’s holiday greetings, wishing the people of Ogun State a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
