October 24, (THEWILL) — Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have re-arrested activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore.

Quoting eyewitnesses, a report by Sahara Reporters said Sowore was re-arrested on Friday, shortly after a bail order was granted by the Kuje Magistrates’ Court in Abuja for the activist and 13 others arrested for the #FreeNnamdiKanu Protest held on Monday.

“As his legal team worked to finalise his bail conditions, police officers led by the Investigating Police Officer, IPO, CSP Ilyasu Barau, Officer in Charge of Anti-Vice under the DC-CID, FCT Command” allegedly manhandled Sowore, “punched him, and forced him into a police van”, the report added.

Earlier, Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’id granted bail to Sowore and 13 others who were arrested during the recent #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja.

Police authorities have not issued any statement to confirm Sowore’s arrest.
