July 27, (THEWILL) – Portugal’s Navegadoras achieved a remarkable milestone in the FIFA Women’s World Cup by claiming their first-ever victory in the tournament with a convincing 2-0 win against Vietnam.
The match witnessed a high-octane start, with forwards, Jessica Silva and Kika Nazareth, threatening the Vietnamese defence within the opening five minutes. The breakthrough for Francisco Neto’s side came soon after, as Lucia Alves delivered a delightful cross, setting up Telma Encarnacao to score Portugal’s maiden goal at a FIFA Women’s World Cup.
