October 24, (THEWILL) – Raheem Sterling’s difficulties in front of goal are not a worrying concern for Chelsea manager, Graham Potter, and the summer signing is expected to soon regain his best form, according to the manager.
In 14 appearances since his £47.5 million transfer from Manchester City, Sterling has scored four goals and provided two assists. Potter has yet to see Sterling score in the Premier League; his last goal came in the new manager’s inaugural match against Red Bull Salzburg.
Sterling has not scored in any of his six subsequent outings, but Potter is sure that the winger’s difficulties are more related to Chelsea’s overall attacking problems.
Potter referred to this when he said: “It’s not something we have to zoom in to one person. As a team, we can do better, and if we do better as a team, then individuals will benefit from that, so that’s where the work is.”
About sterling, in particular, Potter assured: “He’s got the flexibility, ability and quality to play in several positions. It’s not straightforward with losing the players we have [to injury]. So you’re constantly trying to find the right balance, and find the right solutions. But he can help us in a number of positions.”
