President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday paid former military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, a private visit at his uphill residence in Minna.

The visit which was meant to be secret was eventually leaked when residents of Minna woke up to heavier than normal security and out of curiosity and fear started to make inquiries.

The president who spent about an hour with the former President was said to have visited Babangida after his return from a 2-month medical treatment in Germany and to also solicit for his support ahead of the 2015 presidential election.

Though Journalists were not allowed entry into IBB’s residence, it was gathered that the two leaders took time to discuss the state of the nation and the forthcoming general elections.

Jonathan who arrived late hours in the morning in a chopper landed at El-Amin International School, owned by the late Mrs. Maryam Babangida and drove straight to the Uphill residence of Babangida where the two leaders went into a closed meeting.

All the roads leading to the Uphill residence of the former military leader were closed tor human and vehicular movement.

Detachments of armed military men, Police and Department of State Security officials were stationed at strategic positions in the town as early as 7am.
