SAN FRANCISCO, August 10, (THEWILL) – Supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, carried out a protest in Abuja against those calling for the resignation of the President.
The protesters, under the aegis of Coalition for Good Governance and Change Initiative, converged at the Unity Fountain, Abuja singing solidarity songs in support of the President.
The protesters had placards with various inscriptions saying that President Buhari is recuperating and that the system is working very fine.
Some of the placards displayed by the protesters include: “our president is recuperating, Nigeria is moving forward”, “we repose confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari”, “the system is working, no cause for alarm” and many more.
The placard-carrying pro-Buhari protesters kicked against what they described as “rent a group that is trying to undermine the peace in Nigeria.”
They said that the anti-Buhari protesters were agents of corruption and had no reasons to clamour for Buhari’s return “because there is no vacuum in governance.”
THEWILL recalls that another group of concerned Nigerians, under the auspices of Our-Mumu-Don-do Movement, on Monday, began an indefinite sit-out at the Unity Fountain, Abuja, demanding Buhari’s resumption of work or resignation.
This follows the absence of Buhari who departed the country on May 7 for a follow up of his medicals in London, United Kingdom where he has spent over ninety (90) days.
However, the resume or resign protesters, led by Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, were dispersed with teargas at the same location by the police.
