December 21, (THEWILL) — Paris Saint-Germain advanced to the Coupe de France last 32 after defeating fifth-tier Vendee Fontenay 4-0 on Saturday. Goncalo Ramos scored twice in the second half whilst Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue found the net before half-time.
Luis Enrique’s side controlled proceedings from kick-off but initially struggled to convert their dominance into goals. The breakthrough arrived in the 25th minute when Doue finished calmly into the bottom-left corner after Dembele’s pass. Nine minutes later, the PSG captain converted from the penalty spot following Antonin Moisdon’s foul on Ramos inside the area.
The defending champions doubled their advantage within eight minutes of the second-half restart. Ramos converted Senny Mayulu’s delivery from close range before adding his second moments later, capitalising on Nathan Fromaget’s poor back-pass to round goalkeeper Noah Renou and finish.
The Portugal international nearly completed his hat-trick late in the match with an overhead effort from Mayulu’s cross that went wide. His earlier header in the opening ten minutes had also sailed over the crossbar before the hosts found their rhythm.
The Ligue 1 leaders progressed comfortably against their lower-league opponents, maintaining their defence of the trophy they won last season. Fontenay goalkeeper Renou had little chance against the quality on display from Alonso’s charges.
