April 09, (THEWILL) – The Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Ogun State, Com. Michael Ashade, on Wednesday, called on the warring factions of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to sheath their swords and work for the success of the party in the 2027 General elections.
Ashade, who spoke on the heels of the crisis rocking LP’s NEC after the supreme court, affirmed Julius Abure as the national chairman of the party, urging Senator Nenadi Usman, Chairman Caretaker Committee of the party, to respect the court judgement for peace to reign.
The Chairman said that if the crisis in that party at the national level continues, the party might lose its chance to take over the reins of power in the forthcoming election both at the centre and state levels, insisting that they must bury the hatchet.
He also called for peace to reign at the state level and urged angry members of the party to come together and let all hands be on deck to move the party forward to defeat the ruling All Progressive Congress(APC) in the 2027 election.
Ashade said, “It is imperative that once the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, has given a judgement on the matter, all parties are compelled to abide by it for peace to reign. Part of democratic ideals is the prevalence of the rule of law, party supremacy and internal democracy. All parties should come to the drawing board to chart a common front as a strong and virile opposition as a build-up to 2027.”
“The same goes for the crisis in Ogun State, as well as other states in the country. Without the full entrenchment of democratic institutions, the development and full realisation of the dividends of democracy can’t be achieved. I implore all parties to remain steadfast and focused on the total redemption of Nigeria”, he added.
