SAN FRANCISCO, August 08, (THEWILL) – The daily sit-out protest embarked upon by some groups demanding that President Muhammadu Buhari resumes or resigns if incapable of continuing his duties as president on Tuesday turned sour as one of the protesters was injured when the policemen fired tear gas at them.

Buhari had been on medical leave in London, United Kingdom since May 7, 2017, when he left Abuja.

The citizen wounded on Tuesday was taken to a clinic at the Federal Secretariat complex, a few kilometres from the scene of the incident.

Reports say the coalition members were observing their sit-out at the Millennium Park opposite the Unity Fountain, Maitama, Abuja when the armed policemen fired tear gas canisters to disperse them.

The participants, drawn from about four civil society organisations, however braved the assault and reportedly continued with their meeting for about an hour.
