April 20, (THEWILL) – England National League leaders, Wrexham, who are owned by Hollywood stars, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have confirmed a pre-season friendly against English Premier League giants, Chelsea, on July 19.
The match, which will form part of their United States tour, will be played at the Kenan Stadium of the University of North Carolina. The Welsh club recently announced a friendly against Manchester United in San Diego and will face Chelsea before the EPL Summer Series.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said that the team’s US tour would be a vital part of their preparations for the 2023/2024 season. “To have the opportunity to play a team of Chelsea’s calibre at the Kenan Stadium, North Carolina, will be a terrific test for our players and form an important part of our preparations”, Parkinson added.
The match against Chelsea is expected to attract many fans who have supported Wrexham from afar this season. THEWILL recalls that Chelsea were already scheduled to play in the US for the EPL Summer Series, alongside Brighton and Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Fulham.
The Wrexham-Chelsea clash will be an exciting match for both teams as they prepare for the upcoming season. Wrexham is currently four points clear of second-placed Notts County with two games remaining in the National League, and victory over Boreham Wood on Saturday will secure their promotion to League Two.
