February 21, (THEWILL) — The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Napoleon Ukalikpe of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Ahoada East Constituency II by-election, held on Saturday in Rivers State.
Ukalikpe was returned elected after polling 3,980 votes, according to the official results announced by INEC at the collation centre.
The by-election was conducted without the participation of two major opposition parties—the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), both of which failed to submit candidates to the electoral umpire.
A breakdown of the final results shows that the Action Alliance (AA) secured 33 votes, All Progressives Congress (APC) 3,980 votes, Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM/APN) 38 votes, Boot Party (BP) 11 votes, New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) 7 votes, Young Progressives Party (YPP) 7 votes, and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) 6 votes.
INEC officials said the exercise was conducted in line with electoral guidelines, with security agencies deployed to ensure a peaceful process across polling units. The commission noted that voting and collation were completed without major incidents.
