December 03, (THEWILL) — The Rivers State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu, commending his leadership style and urging him to seek a second term in office.
The resolution followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Major Jack, and 25 other lawmakers during plenary.
Presiding over the plenary, Speaker Martin Amaewhule lauded President Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as a father figure who deserves the prayers and support of all Nigerians as he continues to lead the nation.
In their remarks, the legislators praised President Tinubu for what they described as purposeful leadership that has continued to steer the nation in the right direction. They acknowledged the President’s contributions to the development of Rivers State, citing the appointment of notable Rivers indigenes into strategic federal positions as well as the execution of major federal projects within the state.
Among the projects highlighted were the East-West Road, the Bonny–Bodo Road, and various other federal interventions currently ongoing or completed, which the lawmakers said have significantly improved infrastructure and economic prospects in the state.
The Assembly also applauded the President’s economic policies, noting that they have boosted revenue allocations to states and local governments, thereby enhancing their ability to pay salaries and meet financial obligations.
While recognising ongoing security challenges across the country, the lawmakers expressed confidence in the President’s commitment to restoring peace and stability nationwide. They added that despite belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Tinubu has shown no political discrimination against members of opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Reaffirming their loyalty, the legislators pledged their unalloyed support to the President through the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. They also called on members of the 10th Assembly to commence the mobilisation of constituents across all state constituencies for the advancement of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
