December 03, (THEWILL) — Netflix has responded to criticism from Sean “Diddy” Combs’s camp, saying its new documentary is “not a hit piece or an act of retribution.”
Combs’s spokesman condemned the project, calling it “a shameful hit piece” that “relied on stolen footage.”
The documentary, titled Sean Combs: The Reckoning, features previously unseen footage from the days before his arrest, exclusive interviews, and an in-depth look at the events leading to his downfall.
Netflix insists all material was obtained legally.
Addressing the allegations, the streaming platform said, “The claims being made about Sean Combs: The Reckoning are false. The project has no ties to any past conversations between Sean Combs and Netflix. The footage of Combs leading up to his indictment and arrest was legally obtained. This is not a hit piece or an act of retribution.”
Netflix also clarified that while 50 Cent is an executive producer, he has no creative control over the documentary, and no one was paid to appear.
