BEVERLY HILLS, May 25, (THEWILL) – Leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party will this Friday welcome outgoing President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan at the Port Harcourt International Airport after handing over power to President-elect Muhammadu Buhari, says Rivers State Governor-Elect, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
Wike, who made the announcement on Monday in Port Harcourt said that 20 leaders of the party under the leadership of Acting National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus will converge at the airport to receive the President.
The governor-elect in a statement by his spokesman, Simeon Nwakaudu, noted that the leaders will be supported by Rivers people who will converge at the airport on that day.
He said that the President who is a worthy son of the Niger Delta will not be abandoned by the people of Rivers State.
According to him, though his inauguration as the new governor of Rivers State will take place on that day, other selected leaders of the state will actively participate in the reception for outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan.
“After our inauguration on Friday, I will lead a high powered delegation of Rivers State leaders to visit President Goodluck Jonathan at his Otueke home.
“I will be accompanied by at least 30 leaders of the state to congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan for his service to Nigeria and his contribution to the sustenance of democracy,” Wike said, according to the statement.
The governor-elect commended President Goodluck Jonathan for always putting the interest of Nigeria first in all his actions.
