Robbers Attack Newspaper Publisher Sam Amuka

SAN FRANCISCO, June 06, (THEWILL) – Suspected armed robbers, on Sunday, invaded the Lagos home of Vanguard publisher, Sam Amuka, injuring him and carting away an undisclosed amount of money and other valuable items.

The criminals gained entry into Amuka’s Anthony Village residence at about 1:30am after scaling the fence and broke the burglar-proof on one of the windows to enter the house.

They smashed the ceiling leading to his bedroom where he was found and ordered him to bring the money in his possession and hitting the octogenarian with an iron rod in the process.

He has been rushed to a private hospital in Lagos.

Reports indicate that the criminals overpowered the private guards at Amuka’s compound and held them hostage for over 45 minutes.

So far, ten suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack and are being interogated at the Special Anti-Robbery Sqaud (SARS), Ikeja.

Detectives are also screening Amuka’s private guards, domestic staff as well as all the security personnel in the estate.

The attack was the second on Amuka’s home in about two years.

The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, who arrived at the scene of the robbery also visited Amuka at the hospital and assured him that the culprits will be fished out and prosecuted.
