July 29, (THEWILL) – Amid “lies” about his future at Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo has resorted to social media to lash out at the media.
As THEWILL reported, Ronaldo requested permission to be exempted from United’s preseason tour for “personal reasons,” and he reiterated that request upon his return to the club earlier this week while continuing to ask to be allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer.
The “lies” which the 37-year-old denounced in an Instagram post was that Sir Alex Ferguson participated in the most recent meeting and prevented Ronaldo from leaving. As a matter of fact, the legendary former manager was not present at that meeting.
Ronaldo pressed on the issue in his post, saying: “Impossible not to talk about me for one day. Otherwise the press makes no money. You know that if you don’t lie you can’t get people’s attention. Keep going like that and one day you’ll get some news right.”
Ronaldo also commented on another tweet regarding the continuing demonstration by Atletico Madrid supporters opposed to his probable transfer. A portion of supporters recently hoisted up a banner which read “CR7 NOT WELCOME”, and Ronaldo apparently liked the post as he responded with four laughing emojis.
