March 25, (THEWILL) — Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will depart Liverpool Football Club when the current season concludes, bringing to a close a nine-year association that transformed him into one of the most decorated players in the club’s history.
The 33-year-old arrived at Anfield from Roma in 2017 and went on to score 255 goals in 453 appearances, a tally that places him third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list.
During that period, the club claimed a significant collection of honours, including two English Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup, the EFL Cup and the Club World Cup.
In a statement published on social media, Salah addressed supporters directly:
“I never imagined how deeply this club, this city and the people would become part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club. It is a passion, a history, a spirit.”
He concluded his message with a personal pledge: “I will always be one of you and this club will always be home to me and to my family.”
Liverpool confirmed that Salah had requested to make the announcement at the earliest opportunity, citing his wish to offer supporters clarity regarding his future.
The club described his contribution to the institution over the course of his tenure as “remarkable.”
This season has been more difficult for Salah under head coach Arne Slot, with the forward recording five goals and six assists across 22 EPL outings.
Despite signing a contract extension through to 2027 in April last year, his time at the club will now end when the campaign draws to a close.
