Salah Returns To Give Liverpool Massive Injury Boost

March 06, (THEWILL) – Liverpool have received a major boost with the return of star forward Mohamed Salah from injury ahead of their Europa League clash against Sparta Prague. The Egyptian international has not featured for the Reds since February 17 due to a muscle issue but was part of the travelling squad that flew to the Czech capital on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old had been side-lined for almost a month after suffering a hamstring injury while representing Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations in January. His only appearance since then was a cameo against Brentford where he scored before being withdrawn. However, he is now fully fit and could feature against Sparta in the first leg of the Europa League last 16 tie.

“It’s a big lift for us to have Mo back involved”, said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. “He’s a world-class player and we’ve missed him these last few games. We’ll assess him in training but he could play some part on Thursday.”

Salah’s return is timely for the Reds, who face a huge English Premier League clash against title rivals Manchester City, on Sunday. The 31-year-old has scored 19 goals in all competitions so far this season as Liverpool chase an unprecedented quadruple.
