BEVERLY HILLS, November 15, (THEWILL) – Minister of Interior, Retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Danbazau, has revealed that former National Security Adviser, retired Col. Sambo Dasuki, declined an offer to visit his late father, Ibrahim Dasuki, in an Abuja hospital.
Danbazau, while addressing newsmen in Sokoto on Tuesday, after the burial of the 18th sultan who died on Monday night, added that Sambo also declined another offer to be in Sokoto throughout the mourning and burial of his Father.
“Let me correct the impression that Col Sambo Dasuki was prevented from attending the burial rites of his father,” Danbazau said at the Sultan Bello Mosque, Sokoto.
“We had discussed with the Director-General, DSS, and Sambo was offered to visit his late father on his hospital bed in Abuja.
“He declined, saying he preferred to remain where he was and pray for his sick father.
“He was also offered to be in Sokoto throughout the mourning period and also declined, preferring to pray for him. That was the true situation.”
The former NSA has been in detention for over a year as he has been accused of misappropriating funds meant for the purchase of arms under the former government.
Danbazau however described the late Dasuki, the former Sultan of Sokoto, as a true nationalist, and prayed Allah for the repose his soul.
