Sanusi’s Excesses Should Be Overlooked, Dethroning Him Will Be Embarrassing – Timi Frank Begs Ganduje

BEVERLY HILLS, May 12 (THEWILL) – An All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain, Comrade Timi Frank, on Friday called on Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to overlook some of the perceived excesses of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II.

This was as he urged the Kano Governor and members of the State House of Assembly to handle with care the allegations levelled against the traditional ruler, who he described as a “new generation Emir”.

THEWILL had earlier reported that the Kano Assembly has, among other reasons, begun a probe on Sanusi for unduly citicising the President Muhammadu Buhari, APC-led government. The assembly constituted an eight-man committee to investigate allegations against the monarch, which also border on his purported misconduct and alleged misappropriation of funds belonging to the Kano Emirate Council.

Reacting in a statement issued in Abuja, Frank, who was recently removed as the deputy national publicity secretary of the APC, urged the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, other traditional leaders in the country, northern governors forum and other elders in the region to intervene and amicably settle the matter.

He categorically begged Ganduje and other top state government functionaries not to promote any move that will lead to the dethronement of the Emir, adding that such could become a bad precedence against traditional institutions in the state and the country at large.

According to the APC chieftain: “I will call on our traditional fathers to quickly intervene now before this controversy between the state government and the Kano Emirate degenerate into unexpected.

“While I want to make a passionate appeal to our dear Governor Ganduje and the state lawmakers not to exercise their full strength against whatever perceived wrong doings by Malam Sanusi led Emirate in Kano, I believe like other opinion leaders have said that there should be a way to amicably settle the differences.”

Frank reminded the state lawmakers and the governor not to forget how Sanusi spoke out the truth during the Jonathan administration which later garnered substantial support for the enthronement of APC government in the country.

He also called on the federal government not to keep quiet but intervene to ensure the reign of peace and tranquillity between the Kano state government and the Emir Sanusi-led emirate council.
