Saraki Says Seriously Considering Challenging Buhari In February’s Presidential Election

BEVERLY HILLS, August 15, (THEWILL) – Dr. Bukola Saraki, Nigeria’s Senate President says he is considering challenging President Muhammadu Buhari in next year’s presidential election.

“I am consulting and actively considering it,” Saraki, 56, said Tuesday in an interview with Bloomberg at his Abuja residence. “I believe I can make the change.”

Saraki, who recently defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, unsuccessfully sought the APC ticket in 2015 where Buhari emerged flagbearer.

The Kwara native politician, a former member of the PDP before his defection in 2014, says if he runs it would be on the platform of the PDP where other heavy weights have signified their intention to run the highest office.
