January 09, (THEWILL) — Antoine Semenyo has joined Manchester City from Bournemouth in a deal worth a reported £65 million.
The Ghana international winger has put pen to paper on a five-and-a-half-year contract at the Etihad Stadium.
The 25-year-old has impressed throughout the current English Premier League campaign, recording 10 goals and three assists in 20 matches.
Only Erling Haaland and Igor Thiago have notched more goal contributions this season, whilst Semenyo has attempted the sixth-highest number of shots in the competition with 49.
The forward stated his satisfaction at joining a club he has watched dominate English football under Pep Guardiola over the past decade.
He acknowledged significant potential for growth at this stage of his career and emphasised his belief that his strongest performances remain in the future. Semenyo will take the number 42 jersey for his new club.
His debut could arrive in Saturday’s FA Cup third-round tie against Exeter City.
The winger is also eligible to feature in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at Newcastle United next week.
Semenyo may make his EPL bow for City in the Manchester derby on January 17, with his first UEFA Champions League appearance likely to come in the away fixture against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt later this month.
