March 13, (THEWILL) — Bournemouth-turned-City winger Antoine Semenyo claimed the English Premier League Player of the Month award for February 2026, with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola collecting the corresponding managerial honour. The individual accolades offered some comfort to the club following a UEFA Champions League defeat to Real Madrid in midweek.
Semenyo’s recognition carries notable historical weight. The Ghana international, who signed for £62.5 million in January, became only the second player in EPL history to win the following month’s award after completing a January transfer. Bruno Fernandes, who joined Manchester United from Sporting CP in January 2020, was the first to achieve the feat.
The 24-year-old made an immediate impression after leaving Bournemouth, where he scored a stoppage-time winner against Tottenham Hotspur in his final appearance. Within days, he marked his first EPL outing at the Etihad Stadium with a goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers, going on to score three times across five top-flight matches throughout February.
Collecting the award, Semenyo said: “This is a brilliant moment for me. To win the Premier League Player of the Month award so soon after joining City is something I’ll never forget.
