BEVERLY HILLS, May 08, (THEWILL) – The Senate has summoned all military chiefs; the Director General of the Department of State Security (DSS), Lawan Daura; and the Comptroller General of Customs, Hameed Ali over the illegal possession of firearms by non-authorised Nigerians.
The invitation was sequel to a motion on the proliferation of dangerous firearms in Nigeria by Suleiman Hunkuyi (APC, Kaduna North).
The security officers were invited to discuss ways to put an end to what the Senators described as an unfortunate situation.
The summon of the security chiefs is separate from the existing summon of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, who had been asked to appear before the lawmakers on May 9 after he ignored two earlier summons.
