January 19, (THEWILL) – A Non-Governmental Organisation, Isioma Akamagwuna Foundation, on Saturday, January 18, 2025 graduated about 350 persons who were part of its empowerment programme held at Ubulu-Uku in Aniocha South LGA of Delta State.
The foundation also gave out working tools as startup kits, worth over ten million Naira (N10, 000, 000) to the graduates to enable them to start their various businesses.
Ahead of the graduation ceremony, the foundation organised a 12-day empowerment programme which started on Monday, December 9, 2024 at the Civic Centre, Ubulu-Uku, and ended on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
Some of the areas of training during the skill acquisition empowerment were, website design, digital marketing, AI prompting and e-Commerce, makeup and gele tying, catering, phone and computer repair, among others.
To further equip the graduates to be on their own, 41 out of the total participants in the skill acquisition programme were presented with startup kits, comprising working tools such as laptops, ovens, cooking equipment, mixers, cameras, make-up kits, digital scale, mixer, makeup boxes with complete tools, digital soldering iron, chemicals, measuring cups, rolling pins, meat pie cutters, amongst others.
These items were presented to the graduates freely during the graduation ceremony held on Saturday at the Civic Centre, Aniagbala Road, Ubulu-Uku.
Presenting the equipment to the beneficiaries at Ubulu-Uku, the founder, Mrs. Isioma Akamagwuna-Oghorada, said the foundation will continue to strive and push limits in helping people attain their potential.
Mrs. Akamagwuna-Oghorada who was represented by the state coordinator, Mrs Faith Osadebe congratulated the graduands, stating that the foundation was fully committed to empowering citizens of the community and its environs to overcome life’s challenges and achieve their full potential and happiness.
The philanthropist noted that 350 people were empowered with free training in skill acquisition, while the outstanding 41 persons were carefully selected at the end of the training programme and were provided with starter packs worth over N10 million.
She said, “You can see the joy and excitement on the faces of our beneficiaries today and the intervention has served as a much-needed relief for the people.
“The empowerment programme of the foundation has been on for some years now, making people financially independent and self-reliant.”
She noted, ” Our non-profit and development organisation is designed to create platforms for promoting the acquisition of formal and informal education for children, youth, men and women.”
The Training Coordinator, Capacity Development and Skill Enhancement Initiatives, Mr. Odewunmi Olushola said 350 persons were trained at no cost by the foundation in different fields of endeavour to make them become people of the society.
