April 03, (THEWILL) – Atleast three soldiers have been killed when terrorists, suspected to be bandits planted an Improvised Explossive Device (IED), off the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway on Saturday.
The troops deployed at Gwagwa village were going for an operation, when their vehicle ran over the IED planted by the terrorists.
According to military sources, while two Soldiers died on the spot, another one died later, due to excess bleeding from his injury.
This comes barely a week after terrorists ambushed troops along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway and killed seven soldiers.
The incident occurred the same day terrorists bombed Abuja-Kaduna train, killing about eight persons and abducted several passengers.
As at press time, the Director, Defence Information, Major General Jimmy Akpor, did not respond to enquiries..
Also, the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Benard Onyeuko, did not respond to messages to confirm or refute the attack.
