SAN FRANCISCO, November 28, (THEWILL) – The South-South/South-East Governors reiterating their support for President Goodluck Jonathan have agreed to organise a stakeholders’ summit in 2014 for southern leaders to deliberate on the state of the nation.
The Governors who stated this on Wednesday 27th of November 2013 at the end of the South-South/South-East Governors’ forum meeting in Awka, Anambra State explained that the stakeholders’ summit which will come up in the first week of January, 2014 would enable political and business leaders from the area discuss various issues affect the country adding that they would also brain storm on the challenges facing the area.
Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State who briefed journalists at the end of the meeting, said “the meeting deliberated on various socio-economic and political issues their respective states and proffered solutions to the challenges they faced”.
Also present at the meeting were Governors Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State], Godswill Akpabio of Akwa-Ibom State, Peter Obi of Anambra State, Theodore Orji of Abia State and Sullivan Chima of Enugu.
While commending journalists for playing a pivotal role in creating positive awareness on various developments in the nation, the Governors called on nigerians to continue to support and co-operate with the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration as he tackled the various challenges facing the country stressing that it was their responsibility to portray the government in a positive light.
The Governor of Anambra State and Chairman, South-East Governors forum, Mr. Peter Obi reiterated the governors’ determination to promote economic cooperation in the South-East and South-South zones.
