October 8, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur ended a trying week with a 1-0 English Premier League victory at Brighton & Hove Albion thanks to Harry Kane’s first-half header.
The demise of Gian Piero Ventrone’ this week shook Spurs, and head coach Antonio Conte was visibly moved during a touching pre-game homage.
On the field, Conte’s players lifted his spirits, with Kane’s spectacular header making all the difference in Roberto De Zerbi’s first home game as manager of Brighton.
Around the hour mark, Kane fluffed a chance to extend Spurs’ lead and while Brighton showed a lot of promise, they simply lacked the finishing touch to draw even, ending their seven-game home winning streak.
On Wednesday, Spurs will play host to Eintracht in the Champions League. A victory would help Spurs’ chances of making it to the round of 16. The next league matchup for Brighton is against Brentford.
