January 17, (THEWILL) — Sunderland ended a five-match run without victory by defeating Crystal Palace 2-1 at the Stadium of Light, with Brian Brobbey’s superb second-half strike proving decisive in the English Premier League encounter.
Crystal Palace had endured a difficult week following confirmation that Marc Guehi and manager, Oliver Glasner, would be leaving the club, compounding the disappointment of their FA Cup elimination. The visitors took the lead on 30 minutes when Yeremy Pino capitalised on goalkeeper Robin Roefs’ mistake, but their advantage lasted only three minutes before Enzo Le Fee equalised from Nordi Mukiele’s delivery across the box.
Regis Le Bris’ side dominated proceedings after drawing level, with Jean-Philippe Mateta having a goal disallowed for offside before the interval.
