SAN FRANCISCO, July 09, (THEWILL) – The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Godwin Obaseki as the Governor of Edo state.

The court, in its ruling on Monday dismissed an appeal filed Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2016 Edo governorship election, challenging the decision of the Appeal Court which affirmed the position of Obaseki as governor.

In a unanimous judgment, a seven-man panel of Justices of the Apex Court headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, held that both interlocutory and main Appeal Ize-Iyamu lodged before it lacked merit.
