February 16, (THEWILL) — The Supreme Court of Nigeria has invited the public to witness the swearing-in of 14 newly appointed Federal High Court judges, a ceremony that will be conducted by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to Dr Festus Akande, the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Supreme Court, the ceremony will be held in Courtroom Two of the apex Court and is scheduled to begin promptly at 10:00 a.m.
“The ceremony is open to the public, including members of the Bench, the Bar, media organisations, and other stakeholders, who are cordially invited to witness this solemn occasion”, Akande stated, stressing that strict adherence to the dress code and security protocols would be required for entry into the courtroom.
“The Supreme Court of Nigeria appreciates the continued support and cooperation of all stakeholders in the justice sector as we work together to strengthen the administration of justice in our nation”, he added.
The appointments follow recommendations made by the National Judicial Council (NJC) to President Bola Tinubu on January 22. The NJC made the decision during its 110th meeting held on January 13 and 14.
The newly appointed judges include Suleiman Amida Hassan (Chief Registrar, Federal High Court); Muhammad Barau Saidu; Igboko Chinelo Conchita; Onuegbu Chioma Angela; Galumje Edingah; Ibrahim Vera Eneabo; Abubakar Musa Usman; and Salihu Aisha Yunusa. Others are Ikpeme Joy Bassey; Shehu Umaru Adamu; Mohammed Ibrahim Buba; Eigege-Binjin Nendelmum Judith; Usoro Kuyik Uduak; and Nwoye Osinachi Donatus.
The apex court emphasised that the swearing-in ceremony underscores its commitment to strengthening the judiciary and promoting the rule of law across Nigeria.
