SAN FRANCISCO, November 21, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s Supreme Court Friday sacked Taraba Acting Governor, Mr Umar Garba, from office and also nullified the impeachment of Deputy Governor, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi.

The seven justices of the court ordered Danladi reinstated as Deputy Governor with immediate effect.

The lead judgement was delivered by Justice Sylvester Ngwuta.

Garba has been acting as the state’s Acting governor since Governor Danbaba Suntai was injured in a plane crash over 18 months ago.

The apex court said Danladi was denied fair hearing by the panel constituted by the Taraba State House of Assembly to try him before his impeachment.

It described the panel as a “kangaroo panel” that conspired with the House of Assembly to impeach the deputy governor.

The court also declared as illegal the House of Assembly session attended by 19 assemblymen in a hotel operated by the majority leader of the house, where Danladi’s impeachment notice was prepared.
