
April 21, (THEWILL) – Suspected arsonists have set fire to an Osun State High Court building in Ilesa.
A statement signed by Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, said the fire was noticed at Court 2 around midnight on Monday.
The statement noted that files relating to sensitive cases were destroyed in the incident.
The governor, who described the attack as “unjustifiable,” directed security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they face justice.
“Thorough investigation must be conducted by the security agencies to apprehend the suspects and ensure they face the consequences of their actions. I further direct security agencies to beef up surveillance across the various court buildings,” he said.
The governor also ordered the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to work with the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure for the immediate rehabilitation of the affected court building.
