He told the tribunal that he was directed by his superiors to carry out an investigation and was given a petition from Denis Aganya alleging breach of Code of Public Office including non-declaration of assets and false declaration of assets against the CJN.

Akpala stated that Onnoghen submitted two assets declaration forms on December 14, 2016.

He said one of the forms had two Union Bank accounts of the suspended CJN while the other had seven bank accounts with two kept with Union Bank and five others with Standard Chartered Bank.

The CCT then admitted as exhibits the bank account documents of the suspended CJN after dismissing the objection by the defence led by Chief Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN).
