June 03, (THEWILL) – The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to its members against accepting political appointments from Governor Agbu Kefas without prior consultation and approval from the party’s state or national leadership.
In a statement dated June 2, the party clarified that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC has not granted any authorisation for its members to accept appointments from the Taraba State Government.
“Our attention has been drawn to a growing trend of political appointments extended to members of our party by the Governor of Taraba State, H.E. Agbu Kefas, without due consultation or approval from the party at either the state or national level.
“Following investigations and interactions with the National Secretariat and the NWC, we can confirm that no such approvals have been granted. Therefore, any such acceptance of appointments is without the backing of the party”, the statement read.
The party cited Article 9.5 of the APC Constitution as amended in 2022 which states that,
“Membership of the party shall be terminated by death, resignation, expulsion and procurement of membership of another political party.
“A person shall cease to be a member of the party if he accepts political appointments from another political party in government without the approval of the National Working Committee.
“Upon cessation of membership a person shall return to the party all its properties in his or her possession.”
In line with this constitutional provision, the APC warned that any member who accepts an appointment from the Taraba State Government under another party will cease to be a member of the APC.
The party emphasised its commitment to upholding internal discipline and maintaining the integrity of its structure.
