June 09, (THEWILL) – The Taraba State Government has acknowledged the delay in the payment of May 2025 salaries to some civil servants and has assured affected workers that steps are being taken to address the issue without further delay.
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by the Head of Civil Service, Dr. Hamidu Ahmed Kara, the government expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and appealed for continued patience and cooperation.
“The Taraba State Government sincerely regrets the inconveniences caused to civil servants who have not received their salaries for the month of May 2025,” the statement read.
“While appreciating your patience and understanding as we work closely with labour to resolve these issues, I wish to appeal to affected civil servants—those who are yet to receive payment, were underpaid, or wrongly placed—to report to their respective MDAs immediately.
“All responsible Permanent Secretaries, Secretaries, and Staff Officers are hereby directed to compile and submit the list of affected staff to the Committee Chairman on or before Thursday, June 12, for verification, clearance, and prompt payment,” the statement added.
Dr. Kara commended the civil servants for their calm disposition and assured that verified claims would be paid immediately.
To ease the burden on workers residing outside Jalingo, the state capital, the committee will collaborate with the Office of the Head of Service and labour representatives to establish convenient verification arrangements that minimise travel costs and speed up the payment process.
The move is expected to bring relief to hundreds of civil servants who have raised concerns over the salary delay, particularly in light of the current economic challenges.
